The Virginia Tech shooter has been identified as Ross Truett Ashley, a student at Radford. For mysterious reasons he stole a car, drove up to Tech, killed a cop, and then committed suicide when a deputy spotted him.Meanwhile, a newspaper editorialist in Pakistan says that a nuclear war with India over water rights in Kashmir is “inevitable”.
In other news, the heavy metal band Metallica has decided to accelerate its schedule and do its European tour early, in an attempt to beat the meltdown of the euro. In related news, the Greek government has failed to meet its goal of cutting 30,000 state jobs as part of the Troika-mandated austerity plan. It only managed to eliminate 5,000.
