“The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.” (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
— Sahih Muslim, 41:6985
Most readers have probably heard of the “Jew Behind the Tree” verses from the hadith, since they are widely quoted by Counterjihad writers. The best-known example is probably the version from Muslim reproduced above.
But they are not familiar to non-Muslims outside of our little niche, and on those rare occasions when the Jew-behind-the-tree meme happens to surface in public, it is dismissed by Muslim talking heads and their dhimmi shills as something that only “extremists” refer to. We are told that they are not mainstream, and have nothing to do with “true Islam”.
Well, that’s not an entirely accurate statement. Vlad Tepes has subtitled a video showing a member of Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen — the Muslim Brotherhood, which will soon be running Egypt with the support of Western governments — declaiming the same verse. Also included is a clip of a scholar from Al-Azhar University repeating the same text.
Remember how much President Obama respects Al-Azhar?
As Vlad notes:
Here is a segment from 2 clips of speakers from the M.B. at a major conference at Al Azhar in Cairo (we remember Al Azhar as that is where Obama gave his famous outreach speech shortly after being elected and given the Nobel Peace Prize) where At least two speakers at the Azhar rally recited the canonical hadith calling for Jew annihilation.
One was Abd al-Rahman al-Barr, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau [clip 1]
Shaykh Muhammad Mukhtar al-Mahdi, professor at Al Azhar and head of the Islamic Law Society, did so too [clip 2]
Thanks to Andrew Bostom and Translating Jihad for this one.
