Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/23/2011The government of Quebec has reversed an earlier decision and will allow employees in its provincial prisons to wear hijab on the job. The opposition party — the Parti Québécois — objected strenuously to this change in policy, saying that the hijab is a religious symbol, and is thus prohibited.

In other news, the Syrian government is blaming Al Qaeda for a pair of suicide bombs in Damascus that killed at least 40 people and injured more than 100.
