The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has identified the man who shot at motorists in Hollywood Friday morning, wounding one, before he was shot and killed by police.
Tyler Brehm, 26, died near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street minutes after wandering up the street firing a handgun.

An unidentified man went on a shooting rampage in the middle of an intersection in downtown Hollywood yesterday. He fired repeatedly at passing vehicles and pedestrians until he was shot and killed by Los Angeles police. One of his targets was shot in the jaw and remains in critical condition in an area hospital.
The police and the media say they have no insight into the gunman’s motives. The L.A. Times blog reports:
Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Mitzi Fierro would say only that the gunman was a 26-year-old white male from Los Angeles. She said his name was being withheld at the request of his mother because not all of his relatives had been informed of his death.
The reason for the shooting remains unclear.
A clue to the gunman’s motive may be found in the following clip from a Los Angeles TV station. The police should take note of what the man was shouting as he fired at passing vehicles.
