
In economic news, investors’ confidence in the new Monti government has driven the return on Italian government bonds below the 7% mark. The interest on Spanish bonds, however, has risen to almost 7%, signifying a decline in confidence that Spain can deal effectively with its own debt problem.
In other news, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood took to the streets of Cairo in protest against the country’s military government and the injustices inflicted by it on the Egyptian people.
